Procurement Hub works with suppliers across the country to help deliver housing and community projects for its members. Behind every development is a network of professionals working together, something brought to life during a recent day spent on site with Michael Dyson Associates, one of the partner organisations on Procurement Hub’s Strategic Asset Management Services (SAMS) framework.
Supplier Relationship Manager Sacha spent the day shadowing Project Manager Alistair Howarth, gaining insight into how framework partners deliver high‑quality services on live projects.
Heading to Leeds
Alistair is currently delivering Employer’s Agent services on the St Andrews Grange development in Armley, Leeds, a project procured through Procurement Hub and scheduled for handover later this month.
With steel toe capped boots and a high‑vis jacket on, Sacha visited the site to see the project in action and better understand how Michael Dyson supports clients throughout the project lifecycle.
A busy progress meeting
The day began with a site progress meeting attended by representatives from:
Contractor - Termrim
Our member - Yorkshire Housing
Project management team - Michael Dyson Associates
The meeting highlighted the level of coordination required to keep a development moving forward. Alistair led discussions covering:
Minutes from previous meetings
Updates on construction progress
Key issues and challenges
Actions and next steps for the team
It was a clear example of how collaboration between client, contractor and consultant helps maintain momentum on site.
The role of an Employer’s Agent
Michael Dyson’s role as Employer’s Agent spans the full lifecycle of a project, including:
Drafting contracts between public sector member and contractor
Monitoring delivery against programme
Producing monthly cost control reports
Coordinating communication between stakeholders
As Alistair explained:
“It’s great working for Michael Dyson knowing we are adding value to the scheme.”
Through the SAMS framework, Procurement Hub members can access this level of expertise directly, helping ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.
Building homes for the future
Once complete, the Yorkshire Housing development will provide:
