At Procurement Hub, we are proud to have enabled the delivery of Dundee’s newest secondary education campus, a £100.8 million, Passivhaus designed community asset that replaces two end of life high schools. Dundee City Council appointed Robertson Construction Tayside through our Major Projects Framework 2 (MPF2), using direct award to secure programme certainty, compliance, and best-value social and environmental outcomes.
A New Co-Located Secondary Campus for 1,800 Learners
Completed in August 2025, the Drumgeith Community Campus and Greenfield Academy brings together Braeview Academy and Craigie High School into a single, state of the art environment designed for learning, inclusion, and community use, with a GIFA of 19,585 m².
The building meets the Scottish Futures Trust LEIP2 deliverables and has been designed and delivered to full Passivhaus principles, embedding:
-
Thermal insulation and reduced thermal bridging
-
Airtightness and triple glazed insulated frames
-
MVHR ventilation supplying constant fresh air
-
Measurably lowered energy demand operationally
Community Benefit at the Centre
This landmark campus has been designed as a year round civic asset. Alongside teaching and ASN accommodation, the site includes:
-
Library, music and performing arts provision
-
Games halls, gym, dance studio, floodlit 3G pitches for football & rugby
-
Fitness suite and indoor sports
-
New footpath links into the Dundee Green Circular to drive active travel
Major Low-Carbon Interventions
The project introduces green steel — fossil-fuel-free structural steel — used for the ASN block, alongside:
-
Reduced spoil movement and site tipping
-
Extensive EV charge infrastructure
-
Whole-life-carbon-conscious detailing as standard
Local Economic and Social Value via Procurement Hub MPF2
By using Procurement Hub Major Projects Framework 2, Dundee City Council was able to:
-
Directly award to a capable, pre vetted contractor
-
Lock in local supply chain participation
-
Protect programme and limit procurement risk
-
Route spend to support the Dundee economy
“I am absolutely delighted that we are ready to open the building and welcome young people, staff and the community into this great campus.”
Mark Flynn, Leader — Dundee City Council, 2025
This is Dundee’s largest single investment into education, sport and community provision, and we are proud that Procurement Hub’s route to market made it deliverable.
