Somerset County Council decarbonisation scheme

Somerset County Council

Increasing the energy efficiency of Somerset County Hall and Somerset County Library.

Somerset County Council commissioned framework partner, Willmott Dixon to deliver a programme of decarbonisation works to deliver measurable carbon and energy savings.

Procured through the Major Projects Framework, Willmott Dixon has delivered a series of initiatives that are saving an estimated 105,000kWh per annum.

At Somerset County Library, they installed new LED lighting and used the existing distribution system to upgrade the air handling units. By adopting an approach to minimise disruption and distraction, the buildings remained fully operational during works.

Facilities at Somerset County Hall include two carbon reduction schemes. Willmott Dixon has delivered an estate-wide programme of initiatives including replacement windows; enhanced roof insulation; new cladding; installation of an Air Source Heat Pump; and installation of photovoltaics.
