Young Lives vs Cancer provides vital support to children and young people facing cancer, as well as the families who are alongside them every step of the way. Recently, I had the opportunity to visit Jack's House, one of the charity's "Homes from Home" located close to specialist treatment centres, and see that support in action.
More Than Just Accommodation
From the moment I arrived, it was clear that Jack's House is much more than a place to stay.
For families travelling long distances for treatment, having somewhere comfortable, welcoming and close to hospital can make an enormous difference. Jack's House provides a safe and supportive environment where families can remain together during what is often one of the most challenging periods of their lives.
Walking through the house, I was struck by the warm and homely atmosphere. Every space has been thoughtfully designed to offer comfort, privacy and a sense of normality, helping families focus on what matters most while easing some of the practical and financial pressures that can come with long hospital stays.
The Impact Behind the Support
One of the most powerful parts of the visit was hearing about the real impact Young Lives vs Cancer has on the families it supports.
Alongside accommodation, the charity provides practical guidance, emotional support and financial assistance, helping families navigate the challenges that often follow a cancer diagnosis.
